24/00915/TCA_5 23/02/2024 TCA - 5 Day Notice Thames Water Sewage Treatment Works Main Street Hanwell Banbury OX17 1HL T1 x semi mature common ash with a stem diameter of 310mm dictating a root protection area (RPA) of 3.7m. T1 has advanced ash dieback disease including significant deadwood in the outer parts of the crown, reactive growth, diamond shape legions and necrotic lesions and cankers throughout the crown as shown in the attached photo. This tree has extensive, ongoing grazing damage to the basal area and lower stem (see photo) for over 70% of the lower stem. T2 x twin stemmed young common ash with stem diameters of 180 and 210 dictating an RPA of 3.3m. This tree has extensive, ongoing grazing damage to the basal area and lower stem of both stems. T3 x twin stemmed young common ash with stem diameters of 200 and 210 dictating an RPA of 3.5m. This tree has extensive, ongoing grazing damage to the basal area and lower stem of both stems. The required improvement works to Hanwell Sewage Treatment Works involves the installation of ducting less than 0.5m from the main stem of these trees, the impact on the root systems would have a significant impact on the stability and physiology of the trees necessitating removal to facilitate works. The ducting works need to go ahead as soon as possible on behalf of the statutory undertaker (Thames Water), to allow the upgrades to be installed within the timescale of the Regulatory date (by 31/03/2024). These 3no. trees will be replanted in line with Thames Water's replanting policy.
