20/03190/TCA 11/11/2020 Works To Trees In Conservation Area The Old Rectory High Street Charlton On Otmoor OX5 2UQ T1 x Tree of Heaven - This tree has been previously reduced (3 yrs ago) in accordance with a hazard assessment conducted in 2016. The reason for my visit was because a large limb was lost in recent storms and the client is now, understandably, concerned about the risk this tree poses to the adjacent property, highway and over head services. The client has stated that some of the primary limbs had not leafed this year and there is now moderate dead wood located through out the crown. Mr Tremayne and myself have had a good discussion about the realistic ways forward - reduce further or fell. It is my opinion that the tree, which is now reaching over maturity (This stage will see the mass of the tree start to reduce. 'Stag headed' is a commonly used phrase. The tree may start to put on reiterative growth as a response to pathogens and physical stress), has limited prospects. A further reduction would look unsightly and would undoubtedly stress the tree, sending it into further decline. I recommend that the tree be carefully dismantled and felled to ground level. T2 - Turkey Oak - Reduce lowest N/W limb by 4m.
