Re: Planning application no. 09/01557/F The former Bishop Blaize public
house, Burdrop, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX15 5RQ
Dear Mr Lewis
We write to object in the strongest manner to this new application to
change the use of the former Bishop Blaize public house to a private
dwelling.
We are the third property away from this establishment and were delighted
when we arrived in the village to have such a community facility so close by. We
used the pub on a number of occasions - the first visit being the only one when
any meaningful hospitality was shown. On each following visit it was apparent
that the owners had no intention of trying to run this as a business with an
indifferent approach from behind the bar and a may or may not serve food
attitude from the kitchen!
It was obvious that the plan was to try to turn this pub into a private
house from the start. We implore the planning committee to refuse this
application and allow this much wanted and needed facilty back into our
community. We do have another pub in the village but the two were completely
different establishments in the clientele they attract. We understand the pub
was a lively and sucessful business prior to the current owners occupancy and
when there was a recent chance of it being auctioned there was much interest as
running it as such again.
We would also like to mention that on the documents relating to this
application we are listed as notifiable neighbours but we have not been advised
by CDC of this recent application we have only heard through our stalwart
neighbour who runs the Bishop Blaize Support Group.
Yours sincerely
Mr and Mrs J. G. Priestman
