Comments: Dear Sir, I am writing to strongly object to the application from Mr Noquet for change of use of the Bishop Blaize Public House into a dwelling. I have lived just outside Sibford all of my life. "The Bishops" has always been at the centre of the village community and has played a big part in my and many other peoples lives. It has always been a busy, vibrant pub attracting people form all parts of the surrounding areas and further a field alike. It had a welcoming, homely feel being warm and snug in winter yet has an excellent garden and views that appeals equally to many people during the summer months. Its a place where all generations come together to enjoy the company, surroundings, beer and banter!! Unfortunately it was clear from the outset when Mr Noquet took over the pub that it was not taken on in the true spirit of good public house keeping. The atmosphere immediately changed and customers felt unwelcome and were treated so too. The success of the pub is merely a reflection of its landlord. The Blaize has always been a "drinkers" pub unlike the Wykham Arms in Sibford Gower that is more of an eatery and has little space at the drinking bar. I think Sibford Gower, Sibford Ferris and Burdrop combined more than warrant having two pubs in the villages. Unfortunately it would seem that it has been the plan all along to run the pub down and then profit form turning it into a private dwelling and development site. Every time I pass the building, in its ever worsening condition, I feel a sense of loss and sadness that it's fantastic facilities and charm cannot be appreciated and shared by all those that have frequented it over the years. The name "Bishops End", as it is called now, is yet another indication of the real intention! I very much miss having the Bishops as my local, and I would love to rekindle my relationship with that lovely building, view and old friends from the past. Your faithfully Sally Taylor PublicAccess for Planning. (c) CAPS Solutions Ltd.
