Comments: The Bishops Blaize pub used to be, and still could be, an excellent local pub. In the summer we would regularly cycle the 2 miles from Shutford to enjoy the garden with its wonderful views. In the winter our darts team visited its cosy interior with excellent ales and food. It is a disgrace that this Free House has been allowed to be closed & deteriorate for such a long time. Let someone else who REALLY wants to run a pub buy it, and give the village and surrounding area back a popular pub. We use many of the local pubs in this area for eating, drinking or socialising. We oppose the closure of all village pubs, particularly those that we use or used to use, and those for which there is no sensible reason to close. We saw first hand the way The Blaize was run to discourage locals using it, I believe it is called actively seeking to delicense. It also happened in our village pub some years ago, but we campaigned twice and now that pub is a successful and popular business. The Pub is the Hub of Village Life. PublicAccess for Planning.
