Comments: We of 1 Hillfield strongly object to the application to turn what was the hub of the local community, The Bishop's Blaize Inn, into a residential dwelling. Since its closure there has been very little in the way of mixing in the community of an evening; the other public house in the adjoining village(Wykham Arms) is more of an upmarket restaurant, and not somewhere to drop into for a quick drink. (Therefore another Public House would not threaten its income either) Villages of this size need a public house and it is in such a beautiful location that summer in particular, provided a lovely place to walk to and meet up. A number of residents have expressed their interest in purchasing the Bishop's Blaize with the intention of reopening it so it is clear from that alone that there is sufficient custom and interest to keep it as a pub and to get it reopened.Indeed, when it looked like it was being auctioned off various people were looking to buy at that time. The community needs this pub if it is to thrive and develop and also having a country pub within the vicinity keeps the house prices buoyant. PublicAccess for Planning. (c) CAPS Solutions Ltd.
