Comments: Dear Sir, I would like to make the stongest objection possible to the above application for change of use in respect of the Bishop Blaize Public House.I have lived in the village for over 20 years and throughout all of that time the Bishop Blaize has been an integeral and vibrant part of the village. At the time Mr & Mrs Noquet purchased the business it was profitable, as can be seen from the previous landlords accounts, and had been for many years. As a regular customer over many years I could see as soon as Mr Noquet moved in that he had no intention whatsoever of trying to make a success of running the blaize as a pub. His attitude towards customers was totally unacceptable and was soon obvious that his intention was and always had been,as he often admitted ,to close the pub and obtain planning permission for housing development on the site. His motive was understandable as the site is in one of the most beautiful settings in Oxfordshire and would be extremely valuable for housing development. The site as you are aware is in a conservation area and is one of the reasons why the pub has always attracted customers from far and wide. The recent recession has of course has made life difficult for most businesses but you will note that Mr Noquet had applied for change of use within just a few months of moving in and before the current recession had started to bite. In any event any well run business especially one with special attributes such as the Blaize will survive bad times as well as benefitting from the many good . I understand that there are many potential purchasers of the property keen to operate as a public house as was seen prior to the recently proposed auction sale. I feel that the council would be failing in their duty to the community if it allowed such an assett as the Blaize to be lost to the greed of an uncaring individual. The villages of Sibford & Birdrop in particular and many surrounding areas would be the poorer, as they have been since the closure, if this application was approved. I hope that the residents within the CDC area can rely upon our representatives to protect our communities interests against avaritious speculators. Yours sincerely L D J SUMMERELL & MRS CA SUMMERELL Orchard House, Sibford Ferris, Banbury OX15 5RG PublicAccess for Planning. (c) CAPS Solutions Ltd.
