It is with dismay that we have received
information about yet another housing proposal in Bodicote. The village
has already been touched by the building projects on the other side of the main
road (BAN 3) This proposed new build would push the actual village out towards
Adderbury, and open the floodgates for an urban sprawl which would subsume all
the villages close by. Bloxham, Adderbury & Bodicote all wish to retain
their autonomy, this is just an initial proposal of what could turn these
villages into an anonymous sprawl. Cherwell District council is charged with not
only providing housing, but preserving the heritage and integrity of this
area.
Your Draft core strategy Feb 2010 does not include
this area in either its strategic or reserve housing allocation, so why
is the council considering areas outside this remit, an area not
deemed essential in Feb this year.
Having viewed the proposed estate plan, I hope
consideration will be given to the fact that a lot of the surrounding houses are
low-level; either being bungalows or chalet type houses. The building
of high 3 storey type town houses would be totally incongrous to the
surroundings and impact upon the privacy of existing dwellings.
