From: on behalf of DC Secretaries Subject: FW: The Bishop Blaize - Reference: 09/01275F -----Original Message----- From: Jane Leslie Sent: 20 October 2009 11:53 To: Planning Subject: The Bishop Blaize - Reference: 09/01275F Dear Sirs I understand that the owers of the Bishop Blaize have now applied for planning for 4 letting bedrooms. This would be wonderful if the pub were up and running and busy. Unfortunately I fear the the owners are planning to let rooms and then after a period apply for change of use to a residential property. This would be such a shame. I have lived in the village for nearly 15 years and we need the pub as it was prior to the new owner taking up residence. I think I have said this before but will say it again anyway, the pub and its wonderful views belong to the whole village and it should rightfully stay that way. I understand that the present owner has rejected offers of well in excess of the market value - and one has to ask why. He allowed it to fall into disrepair through lack of interest on his part and then rejected offers which would yield a profit. The only conclusion we can draw is that he sees larger financial benefits if he can get change of use, eventually. A thriving village pub with food and bed and breakfast would be wonderful but not if it then became extended and altered to residential appartments. The present owner complains that the village is against him and he has a valid point but what can he expect when he treats the whole community with such contempt . This was a happy thriving community with the pub at is heart and he has torn the heart out. Please consider these opinions when coming to a decision on the present application. Thank you JANE LESLIE Resident Sibford Gower.
