Comments: I would like to make the following comments in support of JS Auctions application for planning permission at Cotefield House, Bodicote. The following observations are not necessarily in order of importance. · A local auction provides an easily accessible venue for the sale of unwanted, but useable items and the purchase of, often reasonably priced, second-hand goods. · Items are recycled rather than being discarded to landfill, thus saving overfilling and the consequent tax penalties (EU rules) - ultimately paid for by the taxpayer. · Local travelling distances to the auction venue are minimal compared with goods travelling by lorry throughout the UK. A reduction in the carbon footprint? · The proposed site in Bodicote is some distance from the road, has ample parking space and should not disturb local residents, most of whom are some distance away. · JS Auctions provides stable and permanent employment for staff and carriers. · In these straitened times the opportunity to buy furniture and other items at auction provides families and individuals with cheaper and often better quality, especially furniture, than new goods. · Whilst so many small businesses are unable to survive in the current economic climate, consequently adding to unemployment, the nature of JS Auction's business provides a viable enterprise that both serves the local community and operates without any large input,if any, of credit. JS Auctions has much support in the local area and it is hoped that Cherwell DC will grant planning permission thus demonstrating important support for a most valuable local business.
