From: on behalf of DC Secretaries Subject: FW: 09/01557/F Bishop Blaize Public House -----Original Message----- From: Sent: 14 December 2009 11:21 To: Planning@cgerwell-dc.gov.uk Subject: Ref: 09/01557/F Bishop Blaize Public House F.A.O. Andrew Lewis Dear Mr Lewis, I am writing to register my objection to the application of change of use for the Bishop Blaize. My family moved into the village of Sibford Ferris in February 2006, in the very same week the pub changed ownership. It has to be said that this was one of the attractions of moving to the village. A lovely village pub on our doorstep. Unfortunately, this facility was not available to us for long. It would appear that the new owners did not have integration in their future plans and have therefore removed a central part of the village from the residents of Burdrop, Ferris and Gower. It is astonishing that having once been declined this permission for change of use that they can reapply. How can any of the previous objections to the first application be any different to this one. If this application was allowed to proceed it would change the landscape of Burdrop forever. This building and the land surrounding it is in a prominent position and building upon it would have detrimental impact on the vacinity. In a climate where some village pubs are struggling to exist it would be criminal to de-licence one that has the support of the community and surrounding villages. The history of this property goes back many many years and to wipe that out just because someone wants to make a " quick buck" from a so called "business decision" is outrageous. It is not as if the applicant is a current member of the community and has intentions of making it their home. The residents want the Bishop Blaize to remain a village pub and be part of the fabric of village life again. Yours faithfully Mrs Maria Evans Lambs Croft Sibford Ferris OX15 5RE
